    Second edition. Octavo. xvi, [1] - 433 pages plus Index and Errata [20 pages] and publisher's advertisement [two pages]. Three fold-out maps and one fold-out "Table of Distances between Pittsburg and the Mouth of the Ohio."

    Bound in later black half-leather with marbled boards and endpapers. Spine titles and rules in gilt inside five raised bands. Moderate wear to the spine, spine bands, and edges. Textblock edges somewhat toned. Light to moderate foxing throughout. Small closed tear to first folding map. Scattered unobtrusive marginalia in text. Overall, a very good copy.

    The first edition to contain John Filson's description of Kentucky, including a fold-out map of the territory. The title page misidentifies the author as George Imlay.
