    More Information:

Villars' (1635-73) work is on demonology and the occult sciences of the Rosicrucians written in the style of a dialogue. It was an attack against such sciences and appealed to common sense. But Villars revealed the secret of the Rocrucians. "In spite of its satirical character The Count of Gibalis awoke an interest in the occult, so much so that it is believed by some that Villars intended to promote Paracelsian magic than to detroy it. Only a few years after the appearance of the book, however its author was murdered by the Rosicrucians, it is said, to avenge his indiscretion and mockery." Seligmann. History of Magic.

The second work, the "Suite" is "A Burlesque on the original work, and presumably only written to enable it to be sold on the reputation enjoyed by the re-issue of the original one." Gardner. "La sujet principal roule sur le marriage des Forces-espirits de la nature. Cette idee est illustree par des examples d'obsessions d'hommes et de femmes se livrant aux incubes et aux succubes." Caillet Yve-Plessis 496 (noting the Sphere and stating some copies have 1691 for a date) & 498 (other ed). Gardner, Bibliotheca Rosicruciana, 685 & 688. Graesse, Magica, 59 noting the Mortier edition is "sehr selten." Caillet 7707. Duveen 411.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
