Quarto (11 x 7.75 inches; 279 x 197 mm). [i-vi], vii-ix, [x], xi-xv, [xvi], xvii-xxi, [xxii], 1-443 pages. Volume includes 9 tipped-in colored plates (24 images) by Isabel Cooper and 82 illustrations, including photographs mostly by John Tee-Van. Also includes frontispiece photograph of Beebe by N. C. Owen. Grey dustjacket (with glassine wrapper) over original cloth binding with illustrated endpapers. Very good in fine dust jacket. A major work on the Galapagos Islands by Charles William Beebe (1877-1962), considered a leading pioneer of modern ecology.
