    Description

Planson, W.H. Fitch. Group of Ten Antique Hand-Colored Botanical Prints. c. 1845-1862.

    More Information:

Comprising nine hand-colored engravings featuring carnations by Planson and printed by Lesauvage in France, circa 1845; and one hand-colored lithograph featuring orchids (Galeandra Devoniana) by Walter Hood Fitch and printed by Vincent Brooks, circa 1862. Carnation prints (plate numbers: 8, 9, 16, 30, 32, 34, 40, 41, and 45) measure approximately 15 x 12 inches (400 x 300 mm.) and are matted and shrink-wrapped. Orchid print (Plate XXXVII) is approximately 18 x 14 inches (460 x 360 mm.). Prints are variously toned (though most are bright still), some with light to moderate foxing, a few with small soiled spots. Altogether, a very good attractive group (prints not examined out of the matts).
