    L. R. & C. TULASNE. Selecta Fungorum Carpologia of the Brothers L. R. and C. Tulasne. Translated into English By W. B. Grove. Edited by A. H. Reginald Buller and C. L. Shear. Volume 1 (2, 3). Oxford: Clarendon Press, 1931. First Edition. Three folio volumes. Complete Set. xxviii, 247, 5 Plates; xxii, 302, 34 Plates; xvii, 206, 22 Plates pages. A unique association set with Manuscript material laid in: a manuscript copy of the first paragraph of the editor's Preface and a typed corrected draft of the second paragraph. This is accompanied by a full typescript of the Editor's Preface with a few changes and the stamp of Clarendon Press. In addition, there is a typescript of the Translator's Preface with a few corrections with the final paragraph in the Translator's hand and signed by the translator. The preface ends "I am penning these last words on my eightieth birthday, October 24th 1928 / W. B. Grove". Near Fine in the original green cloth with gilt lettering, Oxford device spines. With minimal cover edge wear, mild scattered foxing endpapers, leaf margins. A pencil note indicates these volumes were in the collection of noted mycologist E. J. Butler (1874-1943) whose work in India on plant pathology and mycology is renowned. There is a bookplate presenting these volumes to the mycologist G. C. Ainsworth (1905-1998) author of numerous volumes including "Medical Mycology" (1952) and "Introduction to the History of Mycology" (1976).

    Louis Rene Tulasne (1815-1885) was a French botanist and mycologist. The three volume "Selecta" was written in collaboration with his brother Charles (1816-1884) who was responsible for the wonderful illustrations.
