Various paginations; 653 of 655 hand-finished color lithographed plates after J. J. and J. W. Audubon by J. T. Bowen (Birds) or W. E. Hitchcock and R. Trembly (Quads); lacking plate 111 in Volume II of Birds, the Blue-Winged Yellow Swamp Warbler, and Volume II of Quads lacks the preliminaries and pages [1]-10, as well as plate 51, The Canada Otter. Publisher's brown morocco over beveled boards, elaborately tooled in blind, spine lettered in gilt, blind-tooled board edges and turn-ins; all edges gilt. Bindings worn. Hinges in Volume VI of Birds reinforced; text and plates toned and heavily foxed, some are worn and soiled; some pages and tissue guards chipped with tape repairs; occasional over-opening; previous owner's signatures. Incomplete and good only.
