    John James Audubon. Louisiana Heron. London: Robert Havell, [no date]. Original hand-colored engraving with aquatint and etching; plate 217 from the double elephant folio of The Birds of America. Sheet measures 24.75 x 30.375 inches; 629 x 771 mm. (plate 20.875 x 26.25 inches; 530 x 667 mm.); framed under acrylic for an overall size of 31.5 X 36 inches. Laid down on board; matburn with toning along edges; light discoloration throughout; moderate foxing; approx. 1/2 inch tear lower center, two small losses at upper right edge; gesso through bottom margin, possibly repair tear or crease; 4 small white spots at center top; 2 inch tear center right edge. Good. From a private collection in Oyster Bay, New York; by descent to the current owner.
