Three volumes, octavo (10.5 x 7 inches; 266 x 175 mm.). viii, 1-383, [1, Table of Contents], [2, blank]; [iv], [1]-334, [2, blank]; [2, blank], [2], v, [1, blank], [1]-[349], [5, blank] pages. With 155 hand-colored lithographs, after drawings by John James Audubon and his son John Woodhouse Audubon, inserted throughout. Modern quarter orange morocco over marbled boards, spines lettered in gilt, modern endleaves, all edges gilt. Original front free endpapers preserved in each volume, each has a near contemporary gift inscription. Some rubbing, minor edgewear to bindings, original rear blank in volume I with tape repair, original front free endpaper in volume III has extensive tape repairs, and tape residue to the following leaf. Text is slightly toned, with occasional foxing or thumbsoiling. A few plates slightly foxed; some tissue guards torn. Very good. Nissen ZBI 163.
