Original hand-colored lithograph (Plate LXXXVII) from the first imperial folio edition of Audubon's The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America (Philadelphia: 1843-1848), printed and colored by J. T. Bowen and dated 1846. Minor edge wear to plate, including handful of short tears, as well as a trace of discoloration along bottom edge, and soft crease at lower left corner; mild rippling toward head of leaf, with some additional faint, scattered dimpling from handling; soiling at upper right corner; tipped along top edge to sheet of comparable heavy paper. Near fine.
