S. edition, published the same year as the Harper edition, precedence not established. Two octavo volumes. 374, [2, blank]; 489, [1, blank] pages (note: pages 1-2 in Volume II not accounted for in pagination); Frontispiece and engraved title, as well as two illustrated plates inserted in each volume, tissue guards. Publisher's brown cloth, spines ruled in blind and lettered in gilt, boards double-ruled and lettered in blind; brown coated endpapers, flyleaves. Spines gently leaning; corners and spine ends very lightly worn. Signatures marked 15 and 16 removed from three upper stitches, lower two holding firm, but gathering sprung; tissue guards very faintly foxed; morocco book label in volume one. Near fine.
