[2, publisher's ads], 126 pp. Illustrated with frontispiece portrait of author. Publisher's gilt-stamped green cloth. Corners bumped and rubbed, moderate edgewear, head and foot of spine pushed and somewhat frayed, moderately soiled overall. Endpapers with minor soiling, ownership ink stamp to front pastedown, hinges starting. Internally generally clean; moderate soiling throughout, some intermittent dampstaining. Good. Per the author's introductory note at the beginning of this volume, this story was originally published in Household Words, Christmas 1855, but was significantly altered and updated in preparation for his American tour, first published as "The Dream Woman" as part of The Frozen Deep (1874), before this American edition from William Gill (Boston, 1875).
