[6], 290, [2] pages. Publisher's light tan cloth; front and spine stamped in red and gray. Original illustrated dust jacket. Top edge trimmed; others untrimmed. Slight toning to backstrip and board edges; mild shelf wear at extremities. Dust jacket slightly toned with very minor edge wear; flaps clipped. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; occasional marginal thumbsoiling. Shippey, an American journalist and author, achieved notoriety for his affair with a Frenchwoman during World War I. With inked stamp of "The Writers Round Table, Inc. / Hollywood Hotel / Hollywood, California" on front pastedown. About near fine. Basis for the 1941 comedy Dance Hall, directed by Irving Pichel and starring Carole Landis and Cesar Romero. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
