    More Information: W. R. Burnett. Iron Man. New York: Lincoln Mac Veagh, The Dial Press, 1930. First edition. Signed. Octavo. [8], 312 pages. Publisher's full blue cloth; front stamped in blind with publisher's device; spine lettered in gilt. Original illustrated dust jacket. Edges untrimmed; top edge trimmed and stained red. Spine ends slightly pushed with extremely mild shelf wear at extremities of binding. Exposed panels of dust jacket faintly toned; some edge wear with a few tiny chips out of spine ends; a handful of very short tears at joint fold and spine ends. Near fine. With previous catalog entry and two-leaf  "About this book" brochure laid in. Burnett's second novel, about a prizefighter, is the basis for two films: a 1931 production directed by Tod Browning and a 1951 film noir remake directed by Joseph Pevney. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
