    Two volumes. Octavo (7 x 4.75 inches; 179 x 122 mm.). [2, blank], [6, preliminaries], 247, [1, blank]; [2, blank], [6, preliminaries], 212, [4, publisher's ads] pages. Publisher's green cloth, spines lettered in gilt, spines and fronts with pale ruling, publisher's insignia stamped at rear; text block edges untrimmed. Both spines slightly leaning; spine ends a bit crimped and worn; mild wear along joints; trace of rubbing to boards; minimum wear along top edges, slightly more along bottom; a few corners just slightly tapped with cloth beginning to fray. Top edges of text blocks dust-soiled; bookseller's ticket at front free pastedown; first volume preliminaries unopened; spot of thumbsoiling at second volume half-title. Near fine. Housed in custom green cloth slipcase. First volume with portrait of Hardy laid in at front.
