    Description

Stanley Ellin. Dreadful Summit. New York: Simon and Schuster, 1948. First edition. In unique publisher's softcover binding, most likely a proof copy. With a lengthy three-page inscription to Otto Penzler. The long inscription covers the first two blank pages (recto and verso of the first page, recto of the second). In this inscription, Ellin describes how the publication date of this book was moved around by the publisher. Additionally signed by Ellin on the title-page. Octavo. [4, blank], [vi], 181, [7, blank] pages. Publisher's printed wrappers, with printed flaps. Wrappers worn with some chips, tears and creases. Still, a very good example of this Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone in an unusual binding, and with a long inscription to Otto Penzler.

According to Mr. Penzler, Stanley Ellin personally told him that this copy was the first time he'd seen this book in print, as an advance copy.

    A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
