Samuel Hopkins Adams. Average Jones. Indianapolis: The Bobbs-Merrill Company Publishers, [1911]. First edition. Octavo. [vi], 345, [1, blank] pages. With nine illustrations inserted throughout. Publisher's full brown cloth, front board stamped in white, orange and blind, spine stamped in white. Spine toned, rubbed, and edgeworn, some wear, rubbing, mild thumbsoiling to boards, text a bit toned, gutter facing page 345 starting, a few gutters overopened, bookplate and ownership signature on front endleaves. Good.

"According to the anonymous author of the dust wrapper blurb on the first edition, Average Jones is 'the cleverest detective since Sherlock Holmes. Everything about the book is refreshingly original. Humor is as strong as mystery. Adventure is emphasized above sensation. Instead of the ghastly and gruesome, here is an entertainment always gay, brisk, and fascinating.' The blurb-writer was over-enthusiastic, yet more accurate than most of his craft." The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
