[2], [xii], 343, [1, blank], [1, ad], [1, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine and front board lettered and ruled in green; in original second-state dust jacket, five-inch flaps. Boards very lightly discolored near bottom edge; edges just lightly rubbed; tiny bit of soiling to the fore-edge of the front board.  Dust jacket spine panel dulled; crown chipped; edges lightly worn; minor rubbing and soiling throughout. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. The second Philo Vance mystery. A Haycraft-Queen Cornerstone. Source for the 1929 film adaptation, starring Louise Brooks and William Powell, directed by Mal St. Clair and Frank Tuttle. From the KoKo Collection.
