Binding lightly soiled; spine lettering lightly dulled; lower edge of boards very lightly worn; corners of front board slightly bent. Bookseller's ticket to rear pastedown. Dust jacket rubbed; spine panel very faintly darkened; lower edge of rear flap toned with several short closed tears; a couple light diagonal creases to rear flap; edges somewhat worn, particularly at the crown, with occasional short closed tear. Still, very good or better. The first Philo Vance mystery. A Haycraft-Queen cornerstone. Basis for the 1930 Frank Tuttle Film starring William Powell in his third turn as Philo Vance.
