    Robert Louis Stevenson. Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1886. First edition. Octavo. [10], 138, [2, blank], [4, publisher's ads], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's dark red cloth (appears to be variant), spine and front lettered in gilt; all edges trimmed, top edge gilt. Slight lean to spine; spine ends mostly worn away; backstrip sunned, with some small spots of staining; light wear along joints, with a trace of possible insect damage along front joint; boards soiled, with a bit of scuffing; light wear to edges; corners tapped with boards peeking through cloth. Text block edges browned, with spot-stain at fore-edge; interior softly dulled; some faint smudging, specks of foxing to endpapers; tidemark at head of rear endpapers, extending into last few leaves of text block, with fainter dampstaining along hinge; bump at upper rear corner of text block resulting in some bent page corners; a few bent, slightly torn page corners toward middle; occasional light thumbsoiling or spot-staining scattered throughout. About near fine text block in a very good binding. Unable to locate this binding variant in the trade or on Rare Book Hub. Measures 7.1875 inches tall, the height of the second cloth issue. A Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
