Publisher's violet cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt, "Discussion Copy" lettered in gilt across front board; top edge stained dark blue, others rough-trimmed. In original Discussion issue dust jacket, with "Discussion Copy" stamped on front panel and the rear panel dedicated to explaining Discussion Copies. Publisher's violet slipcase with printed paper label. Backstrip and board edges faded, as usual. Endpapers lightly browned. Dust jacket spine panel darkened; rear panel lightly rubbed with some faint event soiling to white background; edges lightly worn with shallow chip to upper edge of front panel; price-clipped with a short closed tear and minor paper loss at the bottom of the front flap near the fold. Slipcase with some light fading; edges lightly worn; one joint starting; paper label browned. A near fine copy in a very good dust jacket. The author's first novel, uncommon in slipcase.
