Edges untrimmed; top edge trimmed and stained green. Mild shelf wear at extremities of binding, most noticeable at spine ends. Tiny amount of fraying at untrimmed edges. Jacket slightly rubbed; fraying with slight loss to paper at spine ends; small chips at top and bottom of front flap fold, with top chip laid in; three short tears from bottom edge, longer one extending down from chip at top, about 1.25"; small crack at head of front joint fold. About near fine book in a very good dust jacket. Chandler's sixth novel to feature hard-boiled private detective Philip Marlowe. Bruccoli A 10.4.a.
