R. Austin Freeman. The Surprising Experiences of Mr. Shuttlebury Cobb. London: Hodder and Stoughton, . First edition. Octavo. 281, [1, blank], [4, publisher's list of titles], [2, blank] pages. Publisher's dark orange cloth, spine and front stamped in black and light orange; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends slightly bumped and worn, foot gently pushed; some faint speckling and thumbsoiling to cloth; top edges of boards darkened just a shade; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block softly dulled from age; top edge dust-soiled; some specks of soiling at rear endpapers. Minimal wear along edges of jacket, particularly at head of spine panel and bottom edge of rear panel; some smudging and soft creasing along folds, with tiny hole toward head of front panel fold; a couple of spots of thumbsoiling at rear panel; outer edge of rear flap slightly soiled and discolored. Near fine.

Publisher's light blue cloth, spine and front stamped in black; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Slight lean to spine; backstrip mildly faded; spine ends pushed and worn; boards lightly rubbed with a spot of pale soiling at rear board; trace of wear along bottom edges; a couple of corners tapped. Text block mildly tanned from age; top edge dust-soiled; spot of wear toward bottom corner at lower edge; free endpapers discolored. Jacket in one piece but torn in several places, particularly at spine (now a bit fragile) and base of rear panel; paper loss along edges, most pronounced at head of front panel, where it affects text; rubbing and soiling to exposed panels; soft creasing at base of rear panel and along flap folds. Verso tanned. Near fine book in a good jacket.
