Publisher's cloth, stamped at spines and fronts, two in red and two in black; fore-edges untrimmed, two text blocks with top edges stained red; original illustrated dust jackets. Spine ends pushed, particularly at feet; Monkey in particular lightly worn and soiled at spine ends; Death with some speckles of discoloration at backstrip and boards; Monkey with a trace of soiling to boards; trace of wear to lower edges of boards; a few soft bumps to board edges. All text blocks but Witness slightly dulled from age; upper edges a bit dusty; bottom and fore-edges of Death foxed; bookseller ticket at front free endpaper of Death; previous owner signature to front free endpaper of Monkey. Light edge wear to jackets, most pronounced to Death jacket, with soft creasing, some nicking, and a handful of short tears; faint evidence of damp at head of Monkey spine panel, which has vertical crease extending full length; foxing to Death jacket; a few short tears (all about half an inch or less) at edges of Mr. Polton jacket, with some minor rubbing to front and rear panel; minimal rubbing to Witness. Near fine books in very good to near fine jackets.
