Publisher's original navy cloth, boards and spine stamped in yellow. Original illustrated dust jacket. Top edge trimmed; others untrimmed. Spine slightly skewed; minor discoloration to cloth at top and bottom edges, particularly at spine ends; minor shelf wear. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; a couple of spots of insect damage along bottom edge. A bit of marginal thumbsoiling scattered throughout interior. Jacket lightly toned, principally at spine panel; a touch of fraying at spine and flap fold ends; short splits at end of front flap fold, bottom of rear; small nick at top of front panel; minor rubbing. Near fine.

Publisher's full teal cloth, boards and spine stamped in blue. Original illustrated dust jacket. Top edge trimmed; others untrimmed. A bit of light shelf wear and discoloration to cloth; what appears to be a dotted glue stain along top edges of boards; slight bump to lower corner of front board. A bit of spotting to top edge of text block; small red stain at fore-edge. A few instances of faint marginal thumbsoiling scattered throughout text block. Jacket lightly rubbed; a bit of fraying at edges; one closed tear at head of front panel; minimal paper loss at spine and flap fold ends; some soft creasing; one or two small spots of soiling. A few tape repairs and spots of foxing at verso. About near fine. With bookplate of Adrian Homer Goldstone tipped to front pastedown. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
