Publisher's full dark green cloth, front and spine stamped in gilt. Original illustrated dust jacket. All edges trimmed; top edge stained green. Pictorial endpapers. Moderate shelf wear at extremities of binding; rubbing resulting in slight loss of gilt at base of spine; soft bumping at corners; spine ends pushed. Light toning and a touch of soiling to edges of text block. Previous owner signature at front pastedown; some scattered spots of soiling to first few gatherings of text. Mild rubbing to jacket; soft creasing at spine panel, joint and flap folds, with a bit of rumpling to flap edges; light wear resulting in slight paper loss at spine and flap fold ends; short splits starting at bottom of flap folds with one short tear at head of spine panel. Single tape repair at verso of jacket, at head of spine. About near fine. Taylor's second novel and the second to feature her detective Asey Mayo, the "Codfish Sherlock." From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
