Octavo (7.375 x 4.9375 inches; 186 x 125 mm.; with a bulk of 1.0625 inches, BAL's B state, sequence unknown); photographic frontispiece and several illustrated plates inserted throughout. [2, blank], xviii, 292, [1], [3, blank] pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, font board stamped and ruled in blind with the publisher's device stamped in gilt; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $1.20. Spine ends and corners very lightly worn; corners of the front board gently bumped; base of the spine slightly crimped. Text block sagging just a hair; top edge of the text very lightly dust-soiled. Dust jacket folds worn, front flap nearly split, two small interior holes to the rear flap fold; crown chipped, but not enough to affect the printed text, several other small chips or closed tears; light lateral creasing to the upper margin of the front panel; spine panel very faintly dulled; very light overall rubbing. A near fine copy in a good but still presentable dust jacket. Uncommon in jacket. BAL 16299. Ad for the leather and limited manuscript editions laid in.
