    O. Henry. Roads of Destiny. New York: Doubleday, Page and Company, 1909. First edition, first printing, lacking the h in had on the sixth line of page 9. Octavo (7.3125 x 5 inches; 186 x 127mm.). vi, 376 pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, front board stamped and ruled in blind with the publisher's device stamped in gilt; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in a supplied dust jacket, issued in 1912 or later with Rolling Stones listed on the rear panel.  Spine just barely askew; rear board slightly bowed; small bump to the crown; spine ends and corners very lightly worn; faint dampstain that's hardly visible to the front board. Rear endpapers with some very faint discoloration to the bottom edge. Dust jacket rubbed and partially dampstained with tidemarks predominately visible on the verso but also to the white boxes on the front and rear panels; folds and edges a little worn. A near fine copy in an about very good, but still presentable, dust jacket. BAL 16277.

Publisher's red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, front board stamped and ruled in blind with the publisher's device stamped in gilt; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket printed on laid paper, original price stickered over. [And:] Waifs and Strays. Twelve Stories. Garden City: Doubleday, Page and Company, 1920. Second (?) edition. Octavo (7.3125 x 5 inches; 186 x 127mm.). [viii], 305, [5, blanks, first of them with a Country Life Press stamp] pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt, front board stamped and ruled in blind with the publisher's device stamped in gilt; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket. [And:] Postscripts. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1923. First edition, publisher's code H-X (August 1923) on the copyright page. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front board lettered in gilt (BAL's A binding, no sequence established); all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, styled after the Doubleday titles, priced $2.00.

    General shelfwear; boards of later two titles slightly splayed; corners softly bumped. Text of Postscripts tanned; endpapers lightly discolored from binders glue; Sixes with a previous ownership signature. Books generally very good. Dust jackets vary, Sixes and Sevens quite nice with a crimp in the spine panel and some light edgewear, near fine. Postscripts very good with minor wear to edges and folds, crown lightly chipped, some creasing; Waifs and Strays good only with extensive wear to the flap folds; overall rubbing, wear to the edges and folds, chipping to the crown and some closed tears.
