Ngaio Marsh. Surfeit of Lampreys. London: The Crime Club, . First edition. Octavo. 316,  pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in black; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends pushed and slightly worn; trace of soiling at backstrip and along joints and board edges; faint rubbing to boards; trace of dust-soiling along top edges and wear along bottom edges. Text block very slightly dulled with age. Jacket generally a bit rubbed and soiled; fairly mild dulling to spine and rear panels; mild edge wear with a couple of minuscule tears along edges, reinforced at verso with a slivers of clear tape. Near fine. Goldstone bookplate at front pastedown.

Publisher's red cloth, spine lettered in black; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Foot of spine slightly rolled; spine ends very slightly faded; slightest trace of wear along joints; dust-soiling along top edges of boards; light wear and a bit of tapping along lower edges. Text block a bit dulled with age; slight foxing along edges; spine split in a few places throughout text block, but still sound. Mild rubbing to jacket; edge wear, particularly at spine and flap fold ends; short tear at base of front panel fold, reinforced at verso with a piece of clear tape (now yellowed), with a crease extending across lower edge of front panel; soft creasing along folds; sparse foxing at verso. Near fine.
