Publisher's red cloth, spine and front lettered in black; top edge of text block trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends very slightly crimped and showing just a trace of wear; minimal wear along bottom edges. Text block softly dulled with age; top edge faintly soiled; small spot of rubbing at bottom edge toward corner. Fairly mild wear along edges of jacket, with some nicking at spine and flap fold ends and a few short tears at edges of front and rear panels; general minor rubbing; light wear and soft creasing along folds, particularly flap folds; a bit of rubbing at verso. Essentially fine book in a near fine jacket.

Publisher's light brown cloth, spine and front lettered in dark blue; top edge of text block trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends a tiny bit crimped and worn. Text block faintly dulled; previous owner penciling at front free endpaper. Jacket slightly rubbed; mild sunning to spine panel, with a bit of light wear at foot; soft scratches to front panel; nicking and a small chip at head of two flap folds, nick reinforced with clear tape at recto and verso, chip reinforced with white paper and tape; folds worn and softly creased; short tear at foot of front flap fold; verso lightly tanned. Fine book in a near fine jacket.

    [And:] Ngaio Marsh. A Man Lay Dead. New York: Sheridan House, [1942]. First U. S. edition. Octavo. 284, [4] pages. Publisher's salmon cloth, spine and front lettered in dark blue; top edge of text block trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine ends a tiny bit pushed and showing some very slight wear; a few corners tapped. Text block slightly yellowed from age; endpapers faintly foxed; red penciling at front free endpaper. Chipping at spine and flap fold ends of jacket, with all but about one inch of front panel fold split, and smaller splits and holes along front flap fold; mild rubbing to exposed panes; folds worn and creased; mild uneven toning at verso, with a couple of small drip spots at verso of spine panel. Fine book in a very good jacket.
