Moray Dalton [pseudonym of Katharine Dalton Renoir]. The Stretton Darknesse Mystery. London: Jarrolds, [n.d., 1927]. First edition, inscribed on the title page: "To Laura Dalton -- / with love from the / author. November 10/27." Octavo. 288 pages. Publisher's reddish-brown pebbled cloth, stamped in gilt on the spine. Skewed, backstrip faded and bumpy, over-opened at title page and nearly separated but for a small section at the bottom, corresponding remnants of crude repair and glue at title page. Rear hinge cracked before the free endpaper. Edges and sheets soiled and foxed, tear to fore-edge margin of page 39/40 with small piece missing, taking a few words with it from page 40. Altogether, a fair copy of a rare book.
