Publisher's gray paper-covered boards, spine lettered and stamped in purple, publisher's device stamped in purple on the front board, in original dust jacket. Light soiling on the bottom edge of the boards; spine ends lightly worn. Faint foxing to edges of the text block and endpapers. Dust jacket worn at crown and bottom edge of the rear spine fold with a couple short tears and creases extending into the lower margin of the rear panel; small bruise to front panel; lightly foxed, mostly visible on front flap and verso. A near fine copy. The author's six mystery (first not featuring Mike Hammer). Source material for a 1954 United Artists film starring Anthony Quinn and Charles Coburn. From the KoKo Collection.
