Publisher's black cloth, spine and front board lettered in red, in original restored dust jacket. Very slight spine lean; corners and spine ends lightly worn. Endpapers foxed; front endpaper with a small bruise to the upper corner and a small circular stain with corresponding offsetting on the first two leaves. Dust jacket spine panel lettering faded; vertical crease through right margin of rear panel; flap folds creases; edges worn; restoration work along top edge as well as to base of spine and edges of flaps; foxed, mostly visible on rear panel and verso. A very good copy in a presentable restored jacket. Bookplate signed by the author laid in. The first Mike Hammer mystery. Basis for the 1953 3D noir. From the KoKo Collection.
