Michael Innes. Lament for a Maker. London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1938. First edition. Octavo (7.25 x 4.875 inches; 185 x 125 mm.). 286 pages. Publisher's full black cloth, spine lettered in red; all edges trimmed; original dust jacket printed in red and black on yellow paper. Minimal shelf wear to binding; a few bumps along edges; spine ends gently pushed; mild rubbing to boards with a touch of soiling along joints. Edges of text block darkened with fairly extensive foxing, some extending into interior page margins. Endpapers lightly foxed with black speckling along bottom edges; small stain to front pastedown; blind stamp at front free endpaper. A bit of rubbing to exposed panels of jacket; light wear at edges and folds; minor paper loss at spine and flap fold ends. Very good. A Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
