    More Information: Melville Davisson Post. The Strange Schemes of Randolph Mason. New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1896. First edition. Octavo (6.75 x 5 inches; 171 x 127 mm.). [2, ads], [vi], 280 pages. Publisher's light brown cloth, spine lettered in green, front board decoratively stamped in green and white; all edges of the text block trimmed; plain endpapers. Backstrip somewhat browned, with a small, light scuff to the interior; front board a little soiled; spine ends and corners with some trivial wear. Top edge of the text block darkened a little; some minor spot soiling to the endpapers, contemporary ownership signature in pencil on the front free endpaper; rear hinge just barely starting between the rear free endpaper and the last leaf of text. Very good. Queen's Quorum 20 ("...introduced the first 'criminal' lawyer. Randolph Mason was an important an historic innovation."). From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
