Octavo (7.5 x 5.125 inches; 189 x 130 mm.). vii, [1, blank], 310, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine and front board lettered in red; top edge of the text block stained red, others untrimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $1.00. Board edges very lightly rubbed; each board with a short vertical ridge in the cloth extending from the upper edge; series of shallow ripples to the back strip; spine ends softly pushed. Text block margins very lightly tanned, but the pages are still quite supple. Dust jacket spine and rear panels very lightly rubbed; narrow crimp the crown; flap folds and upper edges a little soiled; edges with only a touch of wear. An attractive, near fine copy. From the Otto Penzler Collection of Mystery Fiction.
