Octavo. 16 pages of text, including title, half-title and contents; remaining leaves blank. Publisher's full yellow cloth, front and spine stamped in black. Original illustrated dust jacket, publisher's catalog printed at verso. All edges trimmed. Minimal shelf wear at extremities of binding; very mild rubbing at boards. Slight soiling to edges of text block. A bit of chipping along top and bottom edges of jacket; tiny hole at each flap fold; short splits starting at bottom of rear flap fold, top and bottom of front joint fold; mild rubbing to exposed panels; some light fraying along edges of front and rear panels with two short tears. About near fine. A rare copy of a publisher's mockup of the novel based on Rinehart and Hopwood's play (based originally on Rinhehart's novel, The Circular Staircase, a Haycraft Queen Cornerstone) about a masked criminal who would go on to impact the creation of Batman.
