Mabel Seeley. The Chuckling Fingers. New York: The Crime Club, Inc., 1941. First edition. Laid-in is a signed aphorism by Seeley.
Octavo. [xiv], 294, [2, blank] pages. Publisher's full blue cloth, front board and spine stamped in red. In the original publisher's dust jacket. Cloth spine edgeworn, some edgewear, thumbsoiling to binding, lower edge of rear board bumped. There is a small hole (most likely biopredation) extending from the front of the jacket, the front board, the entire text block, to the rear board, and the rear of the dust jacket (there are two holes on the last few pages, the rear board and the rear of the jacket); this hole doesn't interfere with the text. Endleaves toned and offset. Jacket spine a bit toned, some edgewear, mild chipping, thumbsoiling, a few short tears. Some creases on laid-in aphorism. Good.

    "Here's to a book/as yet unwritten-/let's hope it's a/good one-/Mabel Seeley".
