Frontispiece and three additional inserted plates on coated paper by R. F. Schabelitz. Publisher's full red cloth, front and spine lettered in white. Original illustrated dust jacket. All edges trimmed. Minimal shelf wear at extremities of binding; spine ends gently pushed; a couple faint spots of soiling at rear board. Normal age toning to edges of dust jacket with some light soiling. Endpapers unevenly toned from jacket flaps. Mild sunning to spine panel; a bit of chipping at spine and flap fold ends; slight rubbing with some loss of color to exposed panels; minor wear at edges, joint and flap folds. Small amount of foxing recto and verso; some discoloration, including red staining, at verso. Very nearly fine. First appearance of the Michael Lanyard, alias Lone Wolf, an early private detective featured in dozens of films from the silent era onward. A Haycraft Queen Cornerstone.
