    Description

Louis Golding. Pale Blue Nightgown.[London: Corvinus Press, 1936]. First edition, signed limited edition. Presentation copy. One of sixty-four numbered copies signed by the author (this being copy number 5). Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: "For Dorothy Mrs [?] Cohen/this tale not to be read at night/with love/Louis Golding/London/Xmas 1936". Large octavo. Unpaginated. Publisher's half blue vellum over cloth boards, boards and spine stamped in gilt. Spine sunned and lightly soiled. Edges of vellum rubbed. Some toning, foxing to cloth boards. Still, a near fine copy of this rare item, with a wonderful inscription. Housed in later cloth clamshell case.

This item is considered a companion piece to the author's Luigi of Catanzaro (1926, a Queen's Quorum title), and is much rarer than that book.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
