    More Information:

Jack Boyle. Boston Blackie. New York: The H. K. Fly Company, [1919]. First edition in book form of material original published in Red Book Magazine, edited to form a longer narrative. Octavo. [ii], 318 pages. Frontispiece and three additional illustrated plated inserted throughout. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered and front board decoratively stamped in orange, in original dust jacket. Front board rubbed with some discoloration to orange stamp; small dent to upper edge of rear board; extremities lighlty rubbed. Faint offsetting to endpapers. Dust jacket split at front joint fold, repaired (but not restored) on verso, closed tear at bottom of rear joint fold similarly mended; worn; edges chipped; bruising to lower margin of front panel, affecting lettering, with faint pink discoloration; large dampstain to lower portion wrapping around spine panel and extending into the front and rear panels. A very good copy in a good, though seldom seen, dust jacket. Boyle's character was featured in several silent films (prompting the release of this compilation) before returning to the screen in 1941 with Chester Morris in the title role. From the KoKo Collection.
