Various paginations. One volume in publisher's red cloth lettered in black on spine and front, three volumes in publisher's black cloth stamped in red, white, and yellow (one each) at spine and front; all edges trimmed, one volume with red topstain, one with yellow; original illustrated dust jackets. Spine ends softly pushed; some subtle splash-marks to cloth of Heaven-Sent Witness and Solution of a Mystery; mild wear along bottom edges; lower corners of Heaven-Sent Witness bumped. Mild age dulling of text blocks; some small surface abrasions to edges; specks of soiling to bottom and fore-edge of Behind the Monocle; drip stain to top edge of Solution of a Mystery, faint foxing along fore-edge; fingerprint soiling to front endpapers of Behind the Monocle, with previous owner gift inscription at front free endpaper. Jackets generally rubbed and lightly soiled, with some slight nicking or chipping at spine and flap fold ends, and minor wear resulting in a handful of short tears and some soft creasing; a few folds splitting, though all still sound; Behind the Monocle reinforced at recto and verso with clear tape; Black House with tidemarks and bleeding from red binding extending into front and rear panels from flap folds. Near fine books in very good to near fine jackets.
