Description

Ian Fleming Live and Let Die. London: Jonathan Cape, [1954]. First edition, apparent first impression (with no mention of later printings) but with textual errors corrected. Octavo (189 x 124 mm). 240 pages. Publisher's black cloth, front board stamped in gilt with an Edward IV gold rose noble coin, spine lettered in gilt; all edges trimmed; plain white endpapers. In original first-issue, first state dust jacket without credit for jacket design on front flap. Slightly skewed; backstrip faintly dulled; occasional mild soiling and rubbing. Dust jacket touched up with reinforcements on verso and some mild color correction; spine panel very faintly sunned; occasional light rubbing and minor edgewear; rear flap lightly thumbsoiled. A very good copy of an unusual variant, in a presentable sophisticated dust jacket. Gilbert A2a (1.1).
