Grant Allen. Miss Cayley's Adventures. London: Grant Richards, 1899. First English edition. Octavo. ix, , 330, [2, ads] pages. Frontispiece and in-text illustrations by Gordon Browne. Publisher's dark blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front decoratively stamped in gilt; all text block edges trimmed, top edge gilt. Spine skewed; a few tiny abrasions to backstrip; spine ends pushed and a touch worn; minimal loss to gilt lettering at spine; light wear along joints, with cloth splitting at head of rear joint; minimal rubbing to boards; mild wear and bumping along edges and corners. Text block edges slightly tanned with age; top edge a bit dusty; spot of rubbing along bottom edge toward corner; spine split between a couple pairs of gatherings, but still sound; endpapers faintly foxed; occasional scattered, marginal spot-soiling scattered throughout interior. Very good.

Publisher's dark blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front decoratively stamped in gilt; all text block edges trimmed, top edge gilt. Spine skewed; spine ends pushed and worn, top edge starting to fray; light wear along joints; boards very lightly rubbed; mild wear and tapping to edges and corners. Text block slightly dulled; top edge a bit dusty; front hinge split but still sound; endpapers foxed; spine split between a handful of gatherings throughout, but still sound; previous owner inking to front free endpaper; tissue guard at frontispiece lightly foxed; page 81 stained. Very good.
