Publisher's brown cloth spine and front lettered in black, front decoratively stamped in black, dark green, and light green; all text block edges trimmed. Backstrip foxed; foot of spine crimped and slightly worn; line of minor loss to surface of cloth at rear board; board edges slightly darkened; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block slightly dulled from age, particularly at edges; top edge darkened, with a bit of dust-soiling; tiny amount of smudging with some specks of foxing to endpapers; a couple of very narrow splits to spine, still sound. Near fine.

Frontispiece and in-text illustrations by Gordon Browne. Publisher's green cloth, spine and front lettered in gilt and dark green and decoratively stamped in white and dark green; all text block edges trimmed. Spine leaning; spine ends gently pushed and a bit worn; backstrip a bit wrinkled; small black mark at bottom of rear board; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block softly dulled, particularly at edges; tiny spots of staining at bottom and fore-edge; occasional instances of faint, marginal soiling scattered throughout interior. Near fine.
