Signed and inscribed by the author to the front free endpaper recto, "To Ernest and Laura / George F. Eliot / 9/22/36." Octavo. 256 pages. Publisher's red-stamped black cloth; original illustrated dust jacket. Corners just bumped, minor edgewear, top edge of boards slightly faded. Endpapers slightly toned. Internally generally clean; text block toned in margins, top edge stained red and slightly faded, other edges untrimmed, minor edgewear. Dust jacket unclipped ($2.00); moderate edgewear, chipping to head and foot of spine panel and corners, spine sunned, rubbed, reinforced on verso with masking tape, toned on verso. Very good book with good dust jacket.
