Publisher's smooth black cloth, spine and front board lettered and stamped in bluish-purple; top edge of the text block stained blue, others untrimmed; plain endpapers; in the original dust jacket, priced $2.00. Spine slightly leaning; bottom corners just barely tapped; extremities a touch rubbed. Endpapers discolored in the hinges from binder's glue; bookseller ticket on the rear pastedown. Dust jacket spine panel very faintly faded in the red ink; folds softly creased, with a few short horizontal wrinkles; two very short closed tears, one at the bottom of the rear flap fold, the other at the top edge of the rear panel; few faint fox marks on the rear panel. Very good. The first Robin Bishop mystery. "Not since that memorable day in January, 1933, when Erle Stanley Gardner turned over to us the manuscript of his first book...have we been so excited about a mystery as The Man Who Murdered Himself" (dust jacket blurb).
