Full-color frontispiece on coated paper by Sidney Seymour Lucas, matching the front jacket illustration. Publisher's full blue cloth, spine lettered in gilt, front lettered and ruled in blind; edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Minor shelf wear at extremities of binding; top edge a bit discolored; spine ends gently pushed; a bit of light rubbing, staining to boards; bump at lower edge of rear board. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; top edge a bit dust-soiled and speckled; remaining edges slightly rubbed and scuffed in a few places. Uneven toning to endpapers. Dust jacket fraying at edges, particularly along top, with splits at tops of front joint and flap folds; small chips at flap fold ends with smaller amount of paper loss at spine ends; general rubbing with light toning to exposed panels. Near fine book in a very good jacket. Housed in custom brown cloth chemise in book-backed slipcase, one-quarter brown morocco over brown cloth. Chesterton's second book of Father Brown stories.
