Publisher's full navy cloth, spine lettered and ruled in gilt. Original illustrated dust jacket. All edges trimmed. Moderate shelf wear at extremities of binding; spine ends a bit pushed; minimal wear along joints. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; top edge a bit dust-soiled. A few small chips to jacket at and near ends of spine; mild rubbing and soiling to exposed panels of jacket. Faint drip and mild rubbing to verso. Near fine. With funeral card and two letters from Monsignor John O'Connor, the Irish Catholic priest on whom Father Brown is based, laid in, along with a list that appears to be in O'Connor's hand. O'Connor was an important figure in Chesterton's conversion to Catholicism. Chesterton's final collection of Father Brown Stories.
