    G. K. Chesterton [as Gilbert K. Chesterton]. The Wisdom of Father Brown. New York: John Lane Company, 1915. First American edition. Octavo (7.5 x 5.125 inches; 191 x 129 mm.). 324 pages. Publisher's full red cloth, front and spine lettered in gilt. Original illustrated dust jacket. All edges trimmed. Minor shelf wear at extremities of binding; lettering a bit darkened; spine ends slightly pushed. Normal age toning to edges and interior of text block; some foxing along edges. Endpapers slightly foxed with circulating library regulations tipped to front pastedown; paper slip tipped to final leaf with book return information, resulting in some offsetting onto facing page; occasional faint, marginal foxing and spot-soiling scattered throughout text block. Fairly light rubbing and soiling to exposed panels of jacket; a bit of edge wear with minimal paper loss at spine and flap fold ends; two or three closed tears, including one running vertical length of front flap; fair amount of soft creasing, rumpling. Several tape repairs at verso, with a bit of mild rubbing and foxing. Very good.
