G. D. H. and M. Cole. Corpse in Canonicals. London: The Crime Club Ltd., . First edition. Octavo. 252,  pages. Publisher's red cloth, spine and front lettered in black; all text block edges trimmed; original dust jacket printed in black on dark blue paper. Spine ends slightly pushed and darkened; top edges of boards darkened; trace of wear along bottom edges. Text block very faintly dulled with age; top edge dust-soiled; bookseller's ticket affixed to front pastedown. Jacket darkened at spine panel and flap folds; nicking at foot and chipping at head of spine panel, the latter resulting in slight loss to lettering; milder edge wear to front and rear panels; some light wear and soft creasing to folds; flap fold ends a bit nicked; small amount of darkening and rumpling to top edges of flaps. Near fine book in a very good jacket.
[Together with:] Death of a Star. London: The Crime Club Ltd., . First edition, second printing. Octavo. 252,  pages. Publisher's black cloth, spine lettered in gilt; all text block edges trimmed; original illustrated dust jacket. Spine skewed; gilt lettering at backstrip rubbed with only a trace of shine left at a few letters; spine ends softened and worn; faint discoloration and pale soiling to boards; wear along bottom edges; one corner tapped. Mild foxing to text block edges; faint discoloration and soiling at endpapers, with remains of torn-up label at front pastedown; occasional specks of dirt at gutters. Jacket backed with brown paper reinforcement; recto a bit tanned, particularly along spine panel, and rubbed, with soft creasing at folds and a few places along front and rear panels; chipping at head and nicking at foot of spine panel; remains of removed paper at bottom of spine panel; short tear at head of front panel; nicking at flap fold ends; piece of what appears to be another dust jacket pasted over bottom quarter of rear flap (the same seems to have been pulled up at front flap). Very good book in a good jacket.
